Christmas Has Come Early ...for me anyway with this excellent album, this album is a re-issue of the 1970 Camden album (which of course is a re-issue of the original 1957 album) with the same full length cover from the 1968 movie SPEEDWAY , this album was also reissued in 1973 ( i think..not really sure) that had circled the photo of the cover...not to my liking at all, anyway back to this release, i am really happy that this album has been released as it is one of my all time favorite Elvis albums there are so many fantastic tracks that i can not really pick out my favorite from the blues feel of BLUE CHRISTMAS to the powerful rocker SANTA CLAUS IS BACK IN TOWN but then we have the heartfelt and homesick ballad I"LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS to the cheerful and feelgood ditty HERE COMES SANTA CLAUS(right down santa claus lane) , come on what"s not to love about this brilliant album and it is released on 180 gram vinyl , i am not lucky enough to own the original 1957 album, but i do have the 1964 reissue RD.27052 a 1971 french issue with different cover -443030 , and also the same album from japan with this same full cover photo from 1977 with O.B.I. STRIP - PG-66 , so i love this album very much, Elvis is in great voice on all of the tracks , the only fault i do have with this and it is only very little is , WHY the inclusion of WOODEN HEART nothing at all to do with the album or the recording sessions wooden heart did not come out until 3 years after this album was released in 1960 !!! and ok DON"T was recorded at the same session as the Christmas album but it is NOT a christmas song or a gospel song.... i am FLABBERGASTED ( erm a bit Over dramatic there huh) anyway apart from my little tantrum buy this album you won"t regret it , it really is a great album...and for all Elvis fans who already has this album why don"t you treat yourself to a new copy and enjoy it all over again without the scratches and crackling ...like i have .

Lovely. A modern reproduction of the 1957 classic Elvis Christmas album. Love the spiritual songs that close side two. Be warned, this is not the 'ski picture' album released in the 60's and so does not feature 'Mama Liked The Roses'.

This 23 track album is a great way to have both the 1957 Christmas Album and the 1971 Sings the wonderful world of Christmas Album in their entirety.All in original track order. I myself opted to buy the Christmas Peace CD instead of this for two reasons. Firstly, Elvis's entire studio recordings of Christmas songs is a) the 1957 album b) the 1971 album and c) one song recorded in 1966 for single release 'If every day was like Christmas. That song is not included here. The 'Christmas Peace' CD has all of Elvis's Christmas studio songs. Please note there were 4 Gospel, but not specifically Christmas, songs on the 1957 album. Those are not on 'Christmas Peace'. (Those 4 gospel songs are very available on other collections. Indeed all Elvis's gospel studio recordings can be found on the 'Amazing Grace, his greatest sacred performances' double CD quite inexpensively. Personally I wanted only the specifically Christmas songs all on one CD which is the secondary reason I chose 'Christmas Peace' instead of this 'Elvis Christmas' CD. This CD is a perfect way to buy the 1957 and 1971 albums, I just prefer the alternative. NB there are other Elvis Christmas tracks available but these are only alternate takes or live (eg 68 Special) or Duets.
